What is a Learning Activation Model( LAM)?

A Learning Activation Model is a framework designed to engage and motivate students by creating optimal conditions for learning.
It focuses on activating key elements that enhance the learning experience, encouraging deeper understanding, creativity, engagement and self-determination. The model typically integrates various educational theories and practices to foster an environment where learners are actively involved and motivated. Dimensions of Learning, Universal Design for Learning, Project-based Learning and Vivedus are all Learning Activation Models. But Vivedus is the only LAM designed to activate creative intelligence, not only with the provision of pedagogies, but also assessment tools that measure complex capabilities. Vivedus is also the only LAM built onto a digital, AI-enabled platform to make adoption by schools and educators seamless.

To solve the problem of schools killing creativity, a team of educators combined their 120+ years of experience and their respective academic research with theory from world-leading experts in creativity, possibility thinking and assessment practices, and a research partnership with the Graduate School of Education at The University of Melbourne, to create Vivedus.

We are all born as creative beings. Creativity is, therefore, an inherent and universal human quality, a quality that contributes to the advancement of society and to the development of knowledge. To be creative is essential to human fulfilment.

Vivedus nurtures what makes a person truly human by fostering their creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial capacities. Without creativity we cannot contribute to solving the world’s problems, improving other people’s lives, or finding meaningful employment in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

Without creativity we can never really flourish. To be creative is to add vibrancy to life. We were made to be creative.

But it isn’t a matter of dichotomy, either academia OR creativity. The two ought to go together hand-in-glove, empowering people to apply learning to generate new ideas.

Vivedus is agency driven by creativity.

Vivedus places learning in the hands of the student and the teacher as collaborative partners in education. Vivedus encourages teachers and students to make links between subject areas (interdisciplinary learning) so they apply their knowledge to generate new information and ideas.

Learner agency means engagement. When students are engaged, the joy of learning is made visible; education becomes ‘living’.

Vivedus is a platform for teachers to share ideas, grow professionally, and unleash the joy of teaching and learning. Vivedus collaboration means we can realise ideas and learning beyond the curriculum, beyond our own classrooms and beyond our own imagination, while simultaneously ensuring the demands of the curriculum are met.

Collaboration means relationships (within and beyond your school), and relationships which add colour to our life by providing connection, meaning and purpose.

Vivedus is about belonging to a movement. Together, as a community of practice, we can achieve Vivedus’s vision to transform education globally.

Vivedus’s team value and employ academic research and data to ensure that what we offer is reliable, robust, compliant and therefore, trustworthy.

Over 25 years of research and development on the part of Vivedus’s Lead Educator, Gabrielle Kempton, a combined 120 years of educational experience and three research degrees (Paul Browning (2) and Gabrielle Kempton (1)), along with research partnerships with The Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and The University of Melbourne ensure that Vivedus’s approach to learning not only fosters creativity, improves student engagement and supports the professional growth of teachers, it also enhances academic results.

While Vivedus is not curriculum dependent (it works with any curriculum) it is fully compliant with all mandated Australian and State government requirements (ACARA and NCCD). The same will be said when Vivedus is launched globally.

Vivedus’s digital platform has undergone rigorous penetration testing ensuring that all data are secure. Our SaaS platform is built using a reliable and efficient tech stack, including Golang, HTMX, Planetscale for database management, and Clerk for authentication.

Since 2014, a group of educators have had a compelling vision. That vision is to see education transformed to enable young people to thrive in the AI era.

The vision is predicated on the certain knowledge that the world has entered a period of change like none previously seen in human history. We have entered an ‘age of acceleration’. The future of “work” is being transformed by advances in artificial intelligence and robotics. New jobs are emerging, but they will be filled by people with the ability to think creatively.
