Update Jan 2025
By
Paul Browning

Vivedus Pty Ltd was officially founded on 5 March 2024, and launched to the public on 24 May 2024. Since its establishment our team has transformed their knowledge, research, and experience into what we believe is a ground-breaking innovation in education: a world-first Learning Activation Model (LAM) and SaaS Platform. And I don’t use the terms “ground-breaking” or “world-first” lightly. There is nothing else on the market like it; we even had to create a new market category to put Vivedus into, a Learning Activation category.

Are We Guilty of Dogmatism? Reimagining Education for a Rapidly Changing World
By
Gabrielle Kempton

Education is at a crossroads. In our pursuit of improving outcomes, are we inadvertently stifling the very skills our students need to thrive in an uncertain, fast-evolving world? As educators, we must ask: Have we fallen victim to the pendulum effect, swinging dramatically toward standardization and evidence-based practices, or are we courageous enough to embrace transformation? Have we replaced adaptability with dogmatism, clinging to what we know because the unknown feels too risky?

The hidden barriers to educational change: Why transformation feels impossible
By
Paul Browning

For decades, educational leaders, policymakers, and visionaries have been calling for a transformation of schools to prepare students for an unpredictable, AI-dominated future. Despite these calls, meaningful change has been slow and sporadic. Schools remain tethered to outdated models—standardised testing, rigid curricula, and top-down leadership structures. But why is change so hard? Let’s explore the key barriers holding back innovation and transformation in education.

Innovation and Creativity in the Workplace
By
Lance Hockridge

I grew up in a world in which technical and occupational skills were all important. The subjects we were taught and the approach to learning was about equipping us for the workforce of the late 20th century. While a breadth of knowledge was important, and schools and universities taught critical thinking, for the most part innovation and creativity were the domain of the arts.

If I had the choice to pick a leader, who would I choose to follow? All around the world, people are searching for new leaders. The Vatican prepares for a Conclave, the Church of England is selecting a new Archbishop of Canterbury, and here in Australia, we are voting for the next Prime Minister. These are significant positions of power.

NAPLAN, World Economic Forum and Creativity
By
Paul Browning

With the attention on NAPLAN last month we might be forgiven for thinking that it is a measure of the primary purpose of school; after all, the results of NAPLAN, ATAR and PISA are the only measures obsessed about. But what is the purpose of education if it isn’t about preparing young people for future employment and a life of thriving?

The Age of AI intersects with the Industrial Model of Education?
By
Paul Browning

We are living in a brave new world, the Age of Accelerations. I’m going to be provocative when I say this, and I don’t mean to be insensitive, but I worry that too many people have their heads in the sand leaving them to be reactive rather than proactive when it comes to AI.

The Moral Machine
By
Professor Nigel Crook

Asimov was a professor in biochemistry at Boston University and a prolific writer of popular science and science fiction books and articles. He is most widely known for his series of short stories and novels that depict a futuristic world inhabited by both humans and robots. His robots all have ‘positronic brains’ and their behaviour is governed by the Three Laws of Robotics which formed a moral code designed to guarantee that robots would not harm humans, that they would obey orders, and protect their own existence. Asimov used short fictional stories as a way of exploring some of the consequences of equipping robots with a moral code. In my book, Rise of the Moral Machine: Exploring Virtue Through a Robot’s Eyes, I thought it appropriate to continue in this tradition and have included four short fictional stories about robots and morality. Here’s the first story:

Are We Willing to Disrupt the Status Quo? Rethinking School Success for a Complex World
By
Gabrielle Kempton

What does it truly mean to be an educated person in an age of artificial intelligence, rapid technological advancement, and global uncertainty? If information is at our fingertips, how do we define success beyond the ability to recall facts? Our education system must grapple with these questions to ensure we are preparing students not just for exams, but for life.

The provocation for this article was an article I read recently (and a subsequent conversation with the lead author and with my ViVEDUS colleagues, Paul Browning and Gabrielle Kempton).
